Novell /
Novell Projects![]() Back in the day, Novell was THE software company when it came to networking. Long before Microsoft even dreamed of connecting small workstations, Novell was doing it and doing it well. Never heard of Novell? I'm not surprised, while Novell does produce some of the best-of-breed software in the market today, it has been and is still a horrible company when it comes to Marketing and selling itself. Novell is that kid in the corner of class that knows all the answers but for some reason never raises his (or her) hand. While I love Linux and use it more and more in my professional life, I am primarily a Novell Consultant. And while Novell is now moving to a Linux environment, Netware is still in use. Netware is not a "general-purpose" operating system like Windows or Linux. It was designed for one thing and one thing only, File and Print! And it is still one of the best File and Print servers in existence. Problem is that today we demand more than just File and Print out of our servers. Netware just doesn't run applications as well as Linux (hence the move to OES2). There are still a large number of Netware Servers out in the world and will continue to be for some time. During my time working on Novell Netware Servers I have created a large number of scripts, some of which I have published here. I also have a few Novell specific script which I am publishing as well. |
